Toy Story 3

What a fantastic movie! Jamie and I went with a few friends to see Toy Story 3 on opening night and it was wonderful! Looking back over the blog, I was skeptical about another sequel in the Toy Story line, but man was I not disappointed in this one. Rather than just being another story about the toys, this movie happens several years later, when Andy is going off to college and has to decide what to do with the toys. They don't ignore the fact that 11 years have passed between the release of Toy Story 2 and 3. The movie reminisces about the earlier years but then focuses on the future of the toys. The options are living in a bag in the attic or being played with at a daycare. By mistake, they end up at daycare and the action begins. As they try to escape to return to Andy's house, they meet up with a bunch of new toys, some better than others (and some really creepy ones!). The movie was hilarious, as I expected it to be, plus there was a lot of action, as well as suspense, some scary moments and a few really sad ones. Over the last 15 years, I have grown to love these characters, their voices and how they interact. Since this is supposed to be the last movie, I wondered how they would handle the end. They did a great job with it and it is so sad to watch the end, so much so that three out of four of us were in tears when it finished. Another fantastic movie for Pixar, I just love how they keep coming out with great films. The next one is Cars 2, coming out next Summer. The first one wasn't my favorite, so I'm hoping this sequel redeems it a little for me. But back to Toy Story 3, if you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend it, though there were some scenes that might be too scary for little ones.
